Character’s Background: Born into the influential Amakusa family of Kyoto, Mizurin, or Mizu for short (and just to piss of her mother) is the sister of Amakusa Hyouri. Even as growing up in the Amakusa household, Mizu was normal and happy as a quitessential daddy’s girl young girl could be – excluding the fact she was an Amakusa and got whatever she wanted…until her father ditched the title of heir and her grandfather was able to put the title on her brother, effectively ruining her relationships with the other family members.
In effect, her mother has been actively nagging persisting that Mizu should learn on how to be a proper Amakusa lady from the news – not that Mizu wasn’t already learning how to be a proper lady already, except this time taken more seriously and more exposure to the business world. Forced to attend with her mother, along with her grandfather’s consent, Mizu went to traditional events, parties and lessons – from tea ceremonies to watching her brother in kabuki plays to learn how to finance and operate a business. (In case her brother needs help, of course.) With her eccentric’s grandfather’s approval and her mother’s desperation of putting her into something she might be interested in, Mizu is enrolled in Naginatajutsu, the martial art of wielding a naginata and ikebana. She keeps in regular contact with her father, and often, if not usually, visits him alone during his work hours to see how his campaign is doing.
Because of her grandfather pulling a string or two overall status as an outstanding student in her school (and as a family member from one of the school’s sponsors), Mizu went with her brother to Iwatodai in their school exchange program as an opportunity to scope out the competition and escape her mother’s request that she will participate in omiai. What she didn’t expect was the Dark Hour and began to wonder what exactly they signed up for.
Character’s Personality: Mizu is naturally loud and boisterous, but knows how to use tact. She’s the poster child of someone being born under a powerful and influential family, for Mizu appears to be the perfect lady at first glance: her mannerisms smooth and polite, her movements graceful and poised – until she wants something and starts to unabashedly flirt with someone, knowing she has to assets and position to get their attention. She is an opinionated person, but is more subtle than her drama-queen brother, using more…sly methods to get whatever she wants, whether it be info to the newest clothes. A part of her resents her mother for not taking a stand to defend her father, and this is the part that rebels against the Amakusa family code.
She is as much of a gossip like her brother, and wouldn’t hesitate to tell anyone other than the people involved of the newest secret she heard. While tutored in numerous subjects and a variety of topics to entertain whatever suitors her family will throw at her, Mizu prefers to act the ditzy rich girl, opting to feign innocence to fish out more information from people. To her, information is one of the greatest things one person needs, and in the dog-eat-dog world of business, it’s practically essential. Academically Mizu has a fondness for history and language, along with some favor of literature. She is not as keen as to get in the Top Ten list as her brother, but agrees that they have to prove to their family they’re worth something.
She’s secretly an optimist though – she still believes her family will open their arms back to her father in time, and in turn, her and her brother.
